I went out today to get my hair cut and run some errands... and DAMN... it is cold as hell out there. In fact as I sit here in my cozy living room, I can hear the wind howling outside my window from time to time. 
In fact it was so damn cold and windy out when I was running my errands that I could barely smoke without my fingers freezing. It would seem that given our measurable snow fall on Sunday and the highs in the 30's forecast for the rest of the work week that winter is indeed here.
And with winter comes...drum roll please... the holidays... YIKES! I am so not ready for the holidays this year. In fact, the other night I walked to the bodega to pick up some supplies and while I was walking down the street I saw all the people who had their holiday decorations up already and almost had an anxiety attack. 
So today I took steps to get ready for the holidays. The first of which is I scheduled a cleaning company to come in on Thursday to do a full apartment cleaning and sanitization, including a carpet cleaning of the living room. After the apartment is cleaned by hopefully attractive cleaning men (keeping fingers crossed on that one), then on Friday I can start decorating, which is in and of itself a huge task. My behemoth Christmas tree requires a lot of effort to put up. Then on Wednesday, 12/19 I plan on having my annual holiday gathering. Hopefully it will help to get the holidays started on a high note and help me close out what has been a tough 2007 with a bang.
Yeah, I was surprised by how fast the temperature plunged! Wow, it's cold!
Still trying to work out whether we can make it to the party on a "school night," but we definitely are honored to be invited!
