On Wednesday, Nicky and I decided to take advantage of some personal time off that I had taken and the significantly cooler temperatures in NYC by checking out the Bronx Zoo. I am embarrassed to say that in three years of living within walking distance to the Zoo that I have only been there one other time. It really is a fabulous place to wander around, especially given the fact that admission is free on Wednesdays. I think I can see myself wandering over there more often on Wednesdays, even if it is just to get out of the house/office at lunch.
Despite the cooler temperatures, it must have still been too warm for the lions and tigers as they were just sleeping in the shade. However, the sea lions, penguins, bears, panthers and various primates were very entertaining. Click here to see some pictures. Now I need to get out and visit the New York Botanical Garden more often as it is only two blocks from my apartment.
Did you know there are beer drinking, pot using and bitchy gay bears? And no, I am not talking about the "bears" at the Dugout, Hillside Camp Resort or IBR either. I am talking about real bears of the genuine black, grizzly and polar variety (OK, I know those things even mean something in the gay bear community too... but work with me here).
It seems bears prefer Rainier Beer over Busch. Well at least this black bear in Baker Lake, WA did. He was found passed out on the lawn of Baker Lake Resort after consuming 36 beers (OK, again... something not uncommon in the gay bear community... jeez).
In Yellowstone National Park, this grizzly bear raided a tent and ate some marijuana and some candy (he must have gotten the munchies).
At the Clackamas Zoo, Oregon's premiere gay polar bear couple, Malachi and Jonah, seem to be having relationship problems and are being provided with counseling. It appears that Malachi is a bit bitter and struggling with emotional wounds. Jonah probably is a playa. I feel your pain Malachi. LOL.
